DESCRIPTION
This tool helps to eliminate bias in screening, interviewing and hiring employees. Supervisors and managers are held accountable in their efforts to screen and interview candidates ensuring that those who are qualified for the position are granted every opportunity for consideration regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, etc. Screening or interview dates are recorded along with gender and race/ethnicity. A supporting paragraph is required to support the decision to or not to hire. Interview documentation is attached to the form, and all of the documentation is submitted to those responsible for human resources and staffing.
Those responsible for human resources and staffing can use the documentation to identify trends and opportunities for coaching. It may also be that for those supervisors and managers resistive to diversity, a human resources of staffing representative might be included in those sessions not only to observe, but also to participate and ensure openness and fairness.
An editable document is also provided (as the secondary document) so that those involved in the process can word process their supporting paragraphs if desired.
